At 94 mph on a skateboard, Diego just outran every rider in history
Diego Poncelet Sanchez-Cuenca stood on a skateboard at the top of a steep, curving road in Les Éboulements, Quebec — and simply let gravity do the rest. The two-time world champion flew through the timing trap at 151.83 km/h (94.34 mph), faster than hurricane-force wind, breaking the standing downhill speed record held by his friend Peter Connolly. As a teenager he once broke his leg skiing and came back more determined; this run was years of that determination arriving all at once.
The upbeat factora human being, a board, and a hill — and a record that stood for years is gone.
