Australia's rooftops just set two solar records in a single sunny Wednesday
Rooftop solar in South Australia passed 2 gigawatts for the first time, peaking at 2,070 megawatts around midday, while Victoria hit 4,191 megawatts — both all-time records. With panels on about half of South Australian homes, the state is the first gigawatt-scale grid where rooftop solar alone has covered all local demand. Grid-scale batteries soaked up the surplus. The sunniest problems are the nicest ones to have.
The upbeat factorPride: ordinary rooftops quietly powering a whole state.
