Bangkok to cap train fares at 45 baht (about $1.34) a ride from January 2027

Bangkok's Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn has set January 1, 2027 for a single-ticket system across the capital's urban rail network: one tap, fares capped at 45 baht (about $1.34) per journey plus a 17-baht transfer entry fee. Contactless bank-card payments arrive with it, and buses and boats join later in 2027 - part of wider rail and freight upgrades meant to cut travel and logistics costs.

The upbeat factorone ticket, one low fare - Bangkok's commute is about to get kinder.
