Bangladesh builds a bridge between climate money and the villages it should reach

In Dhaka, researchers and campaigners have launched a new independent platform to help climate finance actually reach the coastal families who need it. The Nature and Governance Policy Platform, unveiled on October 15 by Change Initiative with WaterAid Bangladesh and Swiss development support, will connect community evidence with national policymakers. The need is plain in the research shared at the launch: Bangladesh receives about $2.70 in climate loans for every $1 in grants, and only about 35% of coastal households in the studied regions have safe water all year round. The platform's job is to push for grants over debt — and for money that keeps services running, not just built.
