Bangladesh is printing 1.5 crore (15 million) copies of textbooks about happiness, sport and making things

Four new schoolbooks are heading to presses in Bangladesh with a different idea of what Class 4 and Class 6 are for. Class 4 pupils will get Sports and Culture of Bangladesh; Class 6 students get Learning with Happiness and My Technical Education, among the four titles. The lessons range from responding to an injury on a sports field, to sharing household responsibilities, to understanding how technology helps people work — play, creation, cooperation and practical problem-solving alongside written lessons. The National Curriculum and Textbook Board says manuscripts are written and checked, with a print target of about 1.5 crore (15 million) copies by December 15, part of a roughly 310 million-textbook programme for 2027.

The upbeat factor15 million copies of a radical idea — that learning should feel like happiness, and school should teach life too.
