Bearded vultures are soaring over Spain again after a record release season

Conservationists released young bearded vultures across Spain in 2026, including two chicks in the Maestrazgo mountains linking the Pyrenean and Andalusian populations. Europe's largest bird of prey, once nearly wiped out, is reclaiming its skies. All three chicks released in Bulgaria's Balkan program fledged successfully too.
