Bili the baby gorilla has a friend at last — and a sanctuary home

Bili was only a few months old when wildlife traffickers tore her from her family. She has spent the years since healing at the Pandrillus Foundation's Drill Ranch in Nigeria — and this week the Jane Goodall Institute announced she has moved to the Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center in the Republic of the Congo, the sanctuary Goodall founded in 1992. Waiting for her there: another rescued gorilla — a friend, at last. The announcement came on the first anniversary of Goodall's death, as her institute launched the first annual Hike for Hope, inviting people everywhere to step outside and carry her work forward. Tchimpounga already cares for more than 150 chimpanzees and other African wildlife injured or orphaned by the illegal wildlife trade.
