Bogotá's cable cars did more than shorten the ride — they made the air cleaner to breathe
When Bogotá strung cable cars up to its hillside neighbourhoods, the point was a shorter trip into the city. Researchers from the Universidad de los Andes found the cars also cut residents' exposure to air pollution and lifted satisfaction — and that the city's Care Blocks, which offer exercise, learning and support to caregivers, mostly women, leave attendees more active, sleeping a full seven to nine hours, and rich in new friendships. The lesson shared at a healthy-cities panel in Mexico: design a city with its community, and it starts healing its people.
