Breathing pauses cut by almost three-quarters for sleep-apnea patients with no device option

For people with obstructive sleep apnea whose airways fully collapse in sleep, the usual mask machines often fail — and until now no implanted stimulation option was approved for them in the USA. Full 12-month results from the ACCCESS pivotal study of Nyxoah's Genio system, presented in Los Angeles on October 15, show a median 74.3% reduction in nightly breathing pauses, with both main study goals met and no serious side effects linked to the device or procedure. The company has asked US regulators to extend the approval to this group.
