Canada is investing C$880 million (about $630 million) in the researchers who will make its next discoveries
Canada has committed C$880 million (about $630 million) to its research future: more than C$400 million (about $286 million) for 439 health research projects, and over C$480 million (about $344 million) to train 6,485 master's, doctoral and postdoctoral researchers. The projects range from widening breast-cancer screening access in Quebec to a SickKids Toronto team studying the PTEN gene to understand brain development in autism and epilepsy. 'Better health care begins with better research,' said Health Minister Marjorie Michel — 'we're helping turn bold ideas into discoveries that improve health outcomes for Canadians.'
