Canada's urban forests take a Clean50: 43,500 plantings and counting

Green Communities Canada and Canadian Trees for Life have received a Clean50 Top Project Award for the Living Cities Canada Fund, which pays for community-led greening — tree-lined streets, mini-forests, wetlands and rain gardens — across the country. Since 2024 the fund has supported 150 projects, 43,500 plantings and 12,500 volunteers. In 2026 alone the partnership nearly tripled, planting more than 5,000 trees and 16,000 locally native plants through 27 projects in 21 cities and six provinces.
