China adds 10.52 million urban jobs in nine months; social-insurance funds stand at 11.2 trillion yuan (about $1.67 trillion)
China's labour ministry said 10.52 million new urban jobs were created in January–September 2026, reaching 87.7% of the annual target, with surveyed urban unemployment averaging 5.2%. Vice Minister Li Zhong said the ministry will work with other departments on a policy to make the services sector the main channel for absorbing workers. By end-September, 1.079 billion people were enrolled in basic pension insurance, and the three major social-insurance funds held a combined balance of 11.2 trillion yuan (about $1.67 trillion).
The upbeat factorhope — ten million people with new paychecks, and a safety net holding strong.
