Colleges swapping what works: SUNY's momentum campaign gathers at the forestry school
The best ideas in education travel from campus to campus — if someone builds the road. On Monday, the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse hosted the second of three fall regional convenings of SUNY's Academic Momentum Campaign, bringing together leaders, faculty, advisers and student-success staff from across western and central New York. The day's work was practical: helping students build credit momentum in their first year, fixing schedules that quietly delay graduation, and using data to spot students who are drifting before they drop out. The campaign spreads evidence-based approaches — early progress, steady communication, student-centred planning — across the whole state university system, with a final convening at SUNY Cobleskill on 9 November.
