Costa Rican Villagers Rebuilt a Mangrove Forest, Seedling by Seedling

In Costa Rica's Golfo Dulce Hammerhead Shark Sanctuary, a community project called Misión Tiburón has restored more than 68 hectares of mangrove forest, planting over 12,000 seedlings with an unusually high survival rate of 75 to 80 percent. What began in 2021 with wary neighbors has grown into a community association running its own nurseries and monitoring plots, aiming for 80 hectares this year.
