UpbeatDorset's family volunteers are named Team of the Year — by the families' neighbours
More than 170 volunteers, charities and supporters gathered in Dorset for an evening whose entire purpose was saying thank you properly. Home-Start Wessex, whose trained volunteers visit parents of under-fives at home with friendship and practical help when life gets hard, took home a Team of the Year certificate from the Volunteer Centre Dorset celebration. Head of operations Belinda Hewett put it plainly: the award belongs to every volunteer whose quiet weekly visits make a real difference to families across the county.
