Russian sprinter Egor Kornev, 22, sliced four hundredths off the short-course 50m butterfly world record at a World Cup meet in Tashkent, touching in 21.28 seconds — just eight days after tying the 100m freestyle world record in Baku. Short-course races use a 25-metre pool, half an Olympic pool's length, and the 50m fly will make its Olympic debut at Los Angeles 2028.
