Eye drops gave sight back to people with a rare blinding disease

In a trial for limbal stem cell deficiency — a rare condition with no approved drug treatment that can blind people — 41% of eyes treated with the CSB-001 eye drop gained significant vision, compared with none of the untreated eyes. Most treated eyes kept improving even after treatment stopped, and the gains matched real healing of the eye's surface. Pivotal trials are planned for the first half of 2027, aiming at the first approved drug for the condition.
