Fifteen young volunteers, 432 youth groups — and a Tk 500 crore (about $41 million) fund for what comes next

At the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon on 17 October, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman handed the Youth Volunteer Award 2026 to 15 young volunteers and youth organisations honoured for voluntary work across Bangladesh. Each recipient received Tk1 lakh (100,000 taka, about $815), a crest and a certificate, and the government also gave grants of Tk2 lakh (200,000 taka, about $1,630) each to 432 youth organisations to strengthen their work. Rahman told the young audience — joined online by youth volunteers from all 64 districts — that their energy and talent should be turned to building a Bangladesh for everyone, and said the government is working on plans for a startup fund of Tk 500 crore (5 billion taka, about $41 million) to help young entrepreneurs realise their potential, with the size to be increased if needed.
