For migraine patients failed by every other drug, a new option just worked

If you've ever lost days to migraine, you know the despair of a drug that doesn't work. Denmark's Lundbeck just reported that its preventive treatment eptinezumab (Vyepti) helped 60% of trial participants who had already failed a previous migraine preventive — they rated themselves 'much improved' or 'very much improved' after 24 weeks. The 164-person THRIVE trial is the first designed specifically for patients who didn't respond to an earlier class of migraine drugs. ‘These encouraging results add to the growing body of evidence supporting eptinezumab in migraine prevention,’ said Tarek Samad, Lundbeck's head of research and development. The drug was well tolerated, with no new safety signals.

The upbeat factorhope for people who'd run out of options — six in ten felt much better.
