For stoma patients in Türkiye, a nurse on the screen is easing the hardest everyday questions
Living with a stoma — an opening in the abdomen that diverts bodily waste into a pouch — means daily questions about fitting, leakage and sore skin, often far from a hospital. A study published in Nursing Open followed seven stoma patients in Türkiye who received telenursing support: regular remote advice on choosing and using their products, checking how the fitting sits, preventing leaks and caring for the skin around the stoma. Patients described valuing exactly that steady, reachable guidance — repeated teaching after leaving hospital, and clear routes to help when something went wrong. Small, practical care, delivered at a distance.
