Forty-one years, three friends, zero replacements: Grasshopper takes the longevity crown

Edmond So, Calvin Choy and Remus Choy started out in 1985 as backing performers for Anita Mui, released their first album as Grasshopper in 1988 — and simply never stopped, and never swapped a member. Guinness World Records has now recognised the Hong Kong trio as the longest-running Chinese pop group with no line-up changes: 41 years and 112 days together, passing the previous mark of 41 years and 103 days. They announced the honour on stage at their Macau concert on 25 October, where actor Louis Koo presented the certificate. In an industry built on reinvention, their trick was friendship that never needed it.

The upbeat factorthree teenagers who formed a band in 1985 are still, line-up untouched, the same band.
