Four Sri Lankan school teams just placed among Asia-Pacific's best young robot builders

At the World Robot Olympiad's Asia-Pacific Open in Hyderabad, 149 teams from 25 countries battled it out — and Sri Lanka's schoolkids kept landing in the top ranks. MechRE of Gateway College Negombo finished 8th in the senior division with 'Jaga,' a robotic guide dog designed for blind and elderly people. Three more teams placed: a garden robot (10th), accessibility glasses for heritage sites (15th), and a smart hospital bed (17th). Robots built by teenagers, aimed squarely at helping people.
