Ghana's top law graduate swept the two biggest honors — among 1,568 new lawyers

When Akosua Achiaa Sarpong walked into Ghana's 63rd Call to the Bar ceremony, she walked out with the night's two most coveted prizes: the John Mensah Sarbah Award for best all-round candidate and best student in Civil Procedure. The KNUST Faculty of Law graduate stood out among 1,568 newly enrolled lawyers — and became the 11th KNUST student since 2011 to claim the Sarbah Award, the fourth in a row since 2023. Her university is quietly building a dynasty.
