Ghana takes the HPV vaccine into schools nationwide, protecting girls before cancer can start

The Ghana Health Service has begun a nationwide HPV vaccination campaign in schools, working with the Ghana Education Service to reach girls aged 9 to 14 — the age when the vaccine against the virus that causes most cervical cancer works best. The campaign runs in two rounds from October to December, with the second round from November 30 to December 4, and was announced by Director-General Dr Samuel Kaba Akoriyea. Bringing the vaccine to classrooms, rather than waiting for families to find a clinic, is the practical heart of it: protection delivered where girls already are, free and as a normal part of the school term.

The upbeat factora cancer prevented decades from now, by a vaccine given in a classroom today.
