Guyana hosts the Caribbean's flagship tourism conference for the first time
The Caribbean Tourism Organisation's State of the Tourism Industry Conference opened on October 5 in Georgetown, Guyana — the first time the country has hosted it. Ministers of tourism, industry leaders, investors and youth delegates gathered under the theme 'Tourism Futures: Smart, Sustainable and Inclusive,' with President Mohamed Irfaan Ali delivering the keynote on October 7. The backdrop: Guyana welcomed more than 271,000 visitors in January–July 2026 and is targeting 500,000 arrivals for the year.
The upbeat factorpride — a rising destination takes the region's main stage.
