He built the bicycle himself — 2.9 metres tall — and rode it into the Guinness record books
Bello Muhammad of Kebbi State, Nigeria, has been recognised by Guinness World Records for riding the tallest bicycle unsupported: 2.9 metres (9 feet 5 inches) of bicycle, which he fabricated himself. He achieved the feat in Kebbi State on September 22, and the certificate was formally presented to the state government this week in Birnin Kebbi. Officials marked the moment with a donation of ₦1 million (about $1,050) in recognition. It is an impractical machine and a completely serious achievement: designing, building and balancing a bicycle nearly twice a rider's height takes welding, nerve and a great deal of practice.
The upbeat factorno factory, no sponsor's workshop — a young Nigerian built a record-breaking machine with his own hands, then rode it.
