Her platform answers 180,000 farming households

Dairy farming runs on decisions — what to feed, when to sell, how to cut costs without cutting corners — and Professor Dong Xiaoxia of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences has spent nearly 20 years putting better information behind those decisions. She has led more than 60 research projects on sustainable dairy systems and digital agriculture, and her team built a national information platform that now serves over 180,000 farming households, helping them farm with data instead of guesswork. This month the Women in Ag Award named her second in its Technology & Research category — recognition for the unglamorous, compounding work of turning research into something a farmer can use on a Tuesday.

The upbeat factorresearch that ends up in the milking shed, not just the journal — 180,000 households farming smarter.
