Hundreds walked through downtown Akron — dogs included — raising $230,381 to end Alzheimer's

Hundreds of people, plus dozens of dogs, marched through downtown Akron on Saturday for the Walk to End Alzheimer's — part of a national series of walks that funds Alzheimer's care, support, and research. Akron's walk raised $230,381, about 77% of its $298,000 goal. Many walkers carried flowers in a 'Promise Garden': blue for someone living with Alzheimer's or another dementia, purple for someone lost to it, yellow for those caring for someone with the disease, and orange for everyone hoping for a world without it.

The upbeat factora whole city walking side by side — every flower a promise kept.
