Illinois lecture halls are fuller than they have been in 11 years

More than 190,000 students are enrolled at Illinois' public universities this fall — 190,114, the highest total since 2015, and the third year of growth in a row. First-time freshmen rose for the sixth straight year, to 27,502, with meaningful increases among Black and Latino students. 'These record enrollment numbers are a testament to our sustained investments in education,' said Governor JB Pritzker, thanking the teachers, counsellors and parents who got the students there.
