In Indian classrooms, children are finding their voices — one comic book at a time

In schools across Uttar Pradesh, children are learning to push back on the stereotypes that box them in — through classroom conversations and comic books. The Dove Self-Esteem Project, backed by UNICEF, helps kids build body confidence and speak up; when singer Jessie Ware visited as a UNICEF UK ambassador, children told her how it changed them. The proof, Ware said, was in the children themselves: creative, ambitious, and openly sharing their ideas.

The upbeat factorconfidence is a skill — and these kids are learning it.
