In one of the world's hardest places, 2.63 million children got their polio drops

UNICEF's mid-year report for the Central African Republic records a nationwide polio campaign that reached 2.63 million children, alongside measles vaccinations for nearly 47,000 children in outbreak zones and treatment for more than 10,000 severely malnourished children. Health workers also helped bring safe drinking water to 83,000 people and psychosocial support to over 10,000 children. Needs remain huge — 2.3 million people require assistance — but the reach shows what steady fieldwork can achieve in a crisis.
