In Pangani, a new nutrition centre, solar power and a welcome made for young people

Pangani District Hospital in coastal Tanzania has opened a set of upgrades designed around its youngest patients: a Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre for children recovering from malnutrition, a Youth-Friendly Service Unit where young people can seek care without embarrassment, plus solar power and rainwater systems that keep services running when the grid and the rains do not. The improvements come through the Afya Himilivu Project, delivered by Amref Health Africa Tanzania with the Embassy of Ireland and the Government of Tanzania. It is the unglamorous kind of progress that changes daily life: lights that stay on, water that is there, and a door that young people are not afraid to walk through.

The upbeat factorcare that keeps working when the power cuts — and a front door young people will actually use.
