Indonesia's aviation safety wins praise at the world aviation body
At ICAO's Montreal headquarters, council president Toshiyuki Onuma singled out Indonesia for aviation safety and security scores above the global average — a 78.85% safety-oversight score versus 70.6% worldwide, and 88.53% on security against a 75% global target. In the first half of 2026, 257 airports across the archipelago moved 24.9 million domestic and 18.5 million international passengers. Indonesia has also shared training expertise with more than 60 developing countries since 1950 and is bidding for a 2026–2028 ICAO council seat.
