Kenya invests in the North Rift's classrooms, labs and lecture halls
Across Kenya's North Rift, scaffolding is becoming a familiar sight on school grounds. President William Ruto's development tour this week covered five counties — Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Trans Nzoia, West Pokot and Baringo — with education the biggest beneficiary. In Marakwet West, the Sh700 million (about $5.4 million) Chebara Complex renovation — 16 classrooms, three laboratories, a computer laboratory and dormitories across boys' and girls' schools — is 65.4% complete, alongside a youth polytechnic with workshops and hostels for 340 students. In Nandi Hills, Koitaleel Samoei University College's administration block is 90% complete, laboratories, lecture theatres and a library are rising, and foundation stones were laid for two student hostel blocks.
