Kingston's coat drive opens its bins: warmth, sorted by volunteers
United Way KFL&A's annual Coats for Community drive runs from 17 October to 16 November across Kingston, Ontario, asking residents clearing their closets to donate clean, gently used winter coats. Bins wait at the United Way office, Kingston City Hall, the Cataraqui Centre and local library branches; volunteers then sort the coats and deliver them to agencies across Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington. Last year's drive collected more than 1,300 items, and every one went straight to a neighbour who needed it.
The upbeat factora closet clean-out becomes someone's warm winter — 1,300 times last year alone.
