Kiwi are back in Wellington's hills after 150 years

More than 250 kiwi have been returned to the hills around Wellington — their first wild presence there in a century and a half — thanks to 5,300 traps across 24,000 hectares and the Capital Kiwi Project's partnership with local iwi. Chick survival is above 90%, and the night hills are noisy again.

The upbeat factorAfter 150 silent years, the hills are calling back.
