Libreville airport becomes Africa's third to reach top carbon rating

Libreville Léon Mba International Airport in Gabon reached Level 4+ of Airport Carbon Accreditation on September 28, 2026 — the third airport in Africa to do so. It joined the programme back in 2015 and has since cut energy use, upgraded equipment, and worked with airlines and partners across the airport to decarbonise.
