Life after treatment gets $200,000 of new research muscle in Canada

Ask almost anyone who has had cancer: the journey does not end when treatment ends. A Breast Cancer Canada survey found 92% of Canadians agree — and this week, at the ESMO Congress in Madrid, Breast Cancer Canada and AstraZeneca Canada put $200,000 of matched funding behind that idea. Two Canadian research initiatives will receive $100,000 each to strengthen survivorship care — exploring digital health and AI tools that help patients find their way through follow-up care, better understand survivors' needs, and make support more personal and better coordinated. It is research aimed at the years after the headlines: the long, ordinary, important business of living beyond cancer.

The upbeat factorfunding for the part of cancer nobody throws a parade for — the years of life afterwards.
