Lions roar again where poachers silenced them

Fifteen years after lions vanished from the area, Zambia's Lolelunga reserve completed the country's first rewilding of captive-bred lions in April 2026 — a male and female now hunting and holding territory. The same reserve celebrated three cheetah cubs in 2025, the first recorded cheetah breeding success on the property.
