Mangroves, reefs and satellites get a $40 million friend

On World Oceans Day, Bloomberg Philanthropies committed R$40 million to protect Brazil's mangroves, coastal zones and coral reefs in the states of Pará and Amapá. The work pairs local and Indigenous communities with satellite and AI tools that spot threats along the coast in near real time. Healthy mangroves and reefs mean more fish, stronger coastlines and stored carbon.
