Maps that find the children vaccines miss: Zambia shows Gavi how it's done

The hardest part of vaccination isn't the vaccine — it's knowing exactly where the unvaccinated children are. In Zambia, visiting Gavi, health-ministry and UNICEF teams saw the answer in action at Lusaka's Ngombe Urban Health Centre: satellite-mapped microplans covering 32 districts that plot every community and service point, electronic vaccine-stock tracking, and community mobilisation to match. The tools exist to find 'zero-dose' children — the ones no health service has ever reached — and Zambia is using them district by district, so the map, not luck, decides who gets visited next.

The upbeat factora map with every child on it is a promise with coordinates — Zambia is turning it into vaccinations.
