Medical scans in India, checked by AI trained on Indian patients

Most AI tools for reading medical scans are trained on Western patients and rarely tested in Indian clinics. Aarthi Scans & Labs and Ashoka University's Koita Centre for Digital Health have agreed to fix that: they will build a secure pipeline of de-identified scans and rigorously test radiology AI for accuracy and fairness across India's patients and equipment. Their first project — an open-source AI model for chest X-rays, the country's most common imaging test — will be released openly for hospitals, researchers and startups to use and improve.

The upbeat factordiagnostic AI built on the people it will actually serve — and given away for everyone to build on.
