Nairobi's newest hub turns local health ideas into working solutions

Amref International University in Nairobi has launched a Health Innovation Hub to help Kenyan innovators develop, test and commercialise solutions to the gaps they see in their own health system — from access to specialist care to how services reach patients. Led by hub director Professor Duncan Irungu under Vice-Chancellor Professor Joachim Osur, the hub offers young innovators mentorship, links to funding and investors, and a pathway to market. The bet is simple: the people closest to a problem often design the fix that actually works.

The upbeat factorhomegrown ideas, homegrown support — Kenya's next health breakthrough may start in this building.
