Nearly half a million people reached: UNICEF's quiet triumph in Mozambique's hardest-to-reach places
By the end of August, UNICEF's Mozambique Humanitarian Fund had reached 498,765 people — 363,351 of them children — in communities squeezed by conflict and floods, where help is hardest to deliver. Health workers gave 363,194 primary-care consultations, 160% of the target, and the fund also beat its goals for nutrition, safe water and sanitation, child protection and cash assistance for families in hard-to-reach districts.
The upbeat factorhelp is arriving where even the roads give up.
