Nearly half the school students exploring AI and aerospace with IIT Madras are girls

IIT Madras's School Connect programme lets school students in Classes IX to XII (roughly ages 14-18) study future-facing subjects — artificial intelligence, data science, aerospace, cybersecurity and 13 more — in English and Hindi, with modules in seven more regional languages on the way. Since it began in August 2024 it has recorded 223,721 enrolments from 6,406 partner schools, and girls account for 49% of them. The aim now is to grow from thousands of partner schools to 25,000, carrying a top institute's teaching into ordinary classrooms across India.
