Nine gigs, 700 kilometres, 12 hours: an Australian duo races across the country into the record books

Dream-rock duo Fathom set themselves an absurd day: play nine concerts in twelve hours, in cities at least 50 kilometres apart, half of them home to more than 100,000 people — the rules Guinness World Records set for the record. They crossed roughly 700 kilometres of Australia by car, helicopter and plane, played all nine shows, and took the world record for the most concerts performed in 12 hours across multiple cities. It was not only for glory: the duo partnered with mental-health service Beyond Blue, donating half of all ticket and merchandise revenue from the run.

The upbeat factornine stages, three kinds of transport, one world record — and half the proceeds to mental health.
