Nine-year-old Jayden wants to lead the trumpet section — and 21,000 Miami kids now get free music lessons
Nine-year-old Jayden Morisseau wants to lead the trumpet section at Miami's Little River K-8. Every week he gets free music classes through Young Musicians Unite, a nonprofit reaching about 21,000 students across 131 Miami-Dade schools. 'You get a lot of opportunities to go places, and you get better at playing your horns,' Jayden told CBS News Miami. 'Kids need a reason to show up to school, and kids need an opportunity to be seen,' said CEO Samie Gonzalez Zeira. In a music classroom, they're part of something bigger than themselves.
