One hot-day impulse buy became a 2,000-can world record collection

In the summer of 2008, Gergő Borbély had just moved into his dorm in Debrecen, Hungary, when a hot August day sent him into a corner shop for something cold and fizzy. The only thing cold was an energy drink — so he bought it, drank it, and kept the can. Then he kept another. And another. Eighteen years later, his shelf holds 2,000 cans, and Guinness World Records confirmed him this April as holder of the largest collection of energy drink cans on Earth. He never set out to be a collector. He just never threw one away.
