One hundred people see clearly again: Dhaka surgeons restore sight in three days
At Dhaka Medical College Hospital, surgeons working with a visiting medical team from China's Yunnan province carried out 100 cataract operations over three days, from 12 to 14 October. Cataract surgery is short, well proven, and life-changing: a clouded lens is replaced and a person who could not work, read or recognise faces can see again. After the final operations, the health minister visited patients on the ward to ask how their recovery was going.
The upbeat factorone hundred neighbours, parents and grandparents got their sight back in a single long weekend.
