One testing machine, three diseases: Delhi puts its tuberculosis platforms to work on hepatitis
Delhi already owns 85 Truenat testing machines — portable devices its tuberculosis programme uses to detect TB from a sample. The Delhi government now plans to put the same machines to work measuring hepatitis B and C viral load — how much virus is in a patient's blood — for people who screen positive, starting with one machine in each district. Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh said the point is simple: share the equipment national health programmes already have, so diagnosis arrives faster and scarce resources stretch further, in support of the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme.
The upbeat factorno new machines, no new buildings — just the tools already in the room, used for one more disease.
